ABOUT US

Linelive has been providing the full range of documentation services to the construction industry for over 30 years.

Based in Kemsing, just outside Sevenoaks, Kent, our client base includes many major construction companies, such as McLaren Construction, Willmott Dixon, Walter Lilly, Chorus and John Sisk.  We have provided our services for major infrastructure projects such as Crossrail, prestigious developments such as the Olympic Park and The Shangri-La Hotel at The Shard as well as many schools, hospitals, commercial offices and high end private homes.

The company objectives are simple – to research each project accurately and efficiently, and to put ourselves into the mind of the reader when writing and presenting the information.

Over the years there has been no category of building that we have not been involved with, and no degree of complexity that we have been unable to unravel. Every client requires a slightly different approach, and some larger organisations are very prescriptive about how they wish their manuals to be laid out. It is our job to make sure this is done, thus relieving our clients of the burden.

Rick Davnall
Founder

After studying Maths, Physics and Engineering at A Level, and working for a year in the engineering services division of Windscale, Cumbria, Rick graduated with a degree in product design in 1980 before travelling to Aberdeen to join the North Sea oil boom. The unique challenges of deep sea exploration and oil extraction meant that new equipment was being designed and built almost daily and Rick soon found a niche, using illustrations and texts to document how these machines were meant to work.

In 1987, Rick and his family moved South where he spent a couple of years doing detail design work for construction projects before founding Linelive in 1989. Rick handed the company over to the current director Mark in Summer of 2023.

In his spare time, you will find Rick strumming his guitar in his music studio, playing at open mike nights or out and about cycling.
